This feisty rove beetle is well known throughout Europe for its defensive display. When threatened, it opens its jaws and curls its abdomen over its body. The pose resembles that of a scorpion but functions more like a skunk raising its tail — if further harassed, white stink glands emerge from its rear, and a fierce bite could follow.
This hard enamel pin measures approximately 1.5 inches wide and is double-posted for extra security. It features eye-catching silver metal, striking black enamel, and just a little golden shimmer in the mouthparts to capture the beetle's legendary attitude. Each pin comes on a card with the species name.
