This strange group of invertebrates first emerged on the supercontinent of Gondwana millions of years before the dinosaurs walked the Earth - possibly as long as 490 million years ago. Over the eons, the continents drifted apart and most of the world changed, but these tenacious predators still stalk their prey under logs and debris in the tropics and humid temperate regions of the world.
The Brazilian purple velvet worm looks like a cartoon character, but has the mind of a calculating killer. Prey is carefully chosen and ensnared with a net of "glue" fired from the velvet worm's face. The velvet worm can then inject digestive saliva into its prey and eat in peace.
This double posted lapel pin badge features hard enamel and UV printed micro-details, and comes on a Bug Box backer card featuring the species name and facts.
